Level III - 350 Hrs Yoga Teachers Training Course (YTTC)

This  350 Hours TTC registered with Yoga Australia which means after the completion of the course, you can apply to register with yoga australia.

Prerequisite
Successful completion of 200 Hrs yoga teacher training course from Sri Ma Yoga School any branch and any other registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance; Or
8-12 months of hatha yoga practice or equivalent.

Course Objective
This course builds your knowledge & understanding further in the area of yoga philosophy (darshan) & yoga skills (abhyasa) both. 

In the yoga application part of the course, you will have the chance to understand the obstacles in the path of yoga, yogic diet and its relevance to the practice. This course will also teach you how to prevent injuries while practicing yourself & teaching others. 

In 200 hrs ttc, while we focus on human anatomy & physiology, in this course you will about Yoga Physiology including detail study of chakra system & prana bodies. 

This is the first course where you will start to study the most notable yogic text Hatha Yoga Pradapika (HYP)

In the TTP part, you will be introduced to Yoga Nidra so that you can teach the elements of YN in a student class. This course will also teach you the importance of communication and Teaching Methodologies – TM.

Module 1 Principles and Fundamentals of Yoga
1.1 Introduction to Yoga and Yogic practices 
  • Etymology of Yoga and definitions of Yoga in different Classical Yoga texts 
  • Brief introduction to origin, history and development of Yoga
  • Aim, Objectives and Misconceptions about Yoga

Module 2 Applications of Yoga (Human Anatomy, Physiology and Psychology)
 2.1 Human Anatomy Physiology
  • Familiarity with the major systems in the body – skeletal, muscular, respiratory, nervous, cardio-vascular, endocrine, excretory, digestive and reproductive
  • Familiarity with the effects of Hatha Yoga as compared to other forms of exercise - on the joints, bones, muscles, heart, brain and so on, and therefore on health and well-being.
  • Familiarity with the benefits of various asana on different parts of the human body
2.2 Obstacles
  •  Familiarity with obstacles in Yoga practices
  •  Familiarity with limitations and contra-indications of specific Yoga practices
2.3 Yogic diet (Nutrition)
  • Familiarity with the Triguna
  • Familiarity with an Ayurvedic approach to diet and nutrition; and the ethical and spiritual reasons for a saatvik vegetarian diet.
  • Familiarity with the different diets, and its effects on the anatomy and physiology, Yogic diet – a lacto vegetarian, saatvik approach to food.

3.1 Chakra System
  • Seven major chakras, and its correlation to states of consciousness
  • The concepts of ida, pingla and the sushumna the central channel of energy running along the spine.
3.2 Prana System
  • Detail understanding of five prana bodies and energy flow system

Module 5 Yoga Asana  - Technique, Training & Practice (TTP)
  • In-depth knowledge & demonstration ability to perform surya namaskar, joint movements, standing, seated, twisting, back bend, supine, balancing & inversion yogasana sequence
  • Learning to practice ashtanga primary series - mysore style and integral transformational sequences
  • Knowledge of the Sanskrit names of the postures and breathing exercises, detailed benefits and caution.
  • Knowledge of the five spinal movements – inverted, forward, backward, lateral twist and lateral bend and neutral positions of the spine
  • Knowledge of 360 degree, all round, Yogic exercise through the practice of asanas, proper relaxation, proper breathing, contra-indications, cautions and medical considerations; obvious and subtle benefits; and modification in basic postures to accommodate limitations​
Module 6 Pranayama/shat kriya/Yoga Nidra/Mudra/Bandha (TTP)
​6.1  In-depth knowledge & Demonstrated ability to perform the following pranayama:
i. Abdominal (diaphragmatic)
ii. Thoracic
iii. Clavicular breathing
iv. Full Yogic breath
v. Kapal bhati
vi Anuloma viloma (alternate nostril breathing).  ​
6.2 
Knowledge and Demonstrated ability to perform advanced pranayama bhramari, surya bheda, sheetali and seetkari and sadanta and ujjayi. Chandrabheda, Suryabheda and the knowledge of its benefits, limitation and applications.
6.3 In-depth knowledge of human body anatomy & yogic physiology behind pranayama
Module 7 Communication 
7.1 Teaching environment
  • Knowledge and demonstration ability to prepare the class room with cleanliness, proper laying of the mat, sufficient spacing, decorum
  • Knowledge and Demonstrated ability
  •  i. To prepare the course schedule giving due weightage to various aspects of the practice of Yoga
  •  ii. To teach to a pre-defined script through a standard teaching process

7.2 General class administration & log keeping

Module 8 Teaching Methodology (TM)
8.1 In-depth knowledge of
  • The scope of practice of Yoga and how to assess the need for referral to other professional services when needed
  • Observed capacity for, well-developed communication skills: listening, presence, directive and non-directive dialogue.
8.2 Demonstrated ability
  • To recognize, adjust, and adapt to specific aspirant needs in the progressive classes.
  • To recognize and manage the subtle dynamics inherent in the teacher - aspirant relationship.

  • In-depth knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply effective teaching methods, adapt to unique styles of learning, provide supportive and effective feedback, acknowledge the aspirant's progress, and cope with difficulties.

8.4 Principles and skills for working with groups

  • Familiarity of group dynamics and allied techniques of communication skills, time management, and the establishment of priorities and boundaries.
  • Familiarity with techniques to address the specific needs of individual participants, to the degree possible in a group setting.
Module 9 Practicum
Supervised teaching practice, observation of teaching, assistance in classes taught by qualified teacher, receiving and giving feedback. For full members, this includes professional ongoing mentoring and supervision under a more senior teacher.
