At Sri Ma Yoga School, our Hatha Yoga short courses offer a structured introduction to the timeless wisdom of yoga. These courses are designed to support both your yoga practice and yoga knowledge, helping you build a deeper, more integrated understanding of the yogic path.

A Holistic Approach to YogaModern life can create strain in the body and mind, leaving many people feeling disconnected, stressed, or unwell. Yoga offers a path back to balance by uniting physical practice with inner awareness, helping you reconnect with yourself on every level.

Our teaching honours the classical roots of yoga while making the tradition accessible and relevant for today’s world. We go beyond postures alone to explore yoga as a complete system for health, awareness, and transformation.

​The Two Pillars of Yoga
The Yoga system rests on two foundational pillars:
  • Yoga Skills & Practice (Yoga Abhyāsa)
  • Yoga Knowledge & Philosophy (Yoga Darśana)
Together, these pillars support a more complete understanding of yoga and create a strong foundation for lifelong practice.

Everyone is welcome. Whether you are new to yoga or already have experience, these courses are suitable for those who want to explore the deeper meaning and techniques behind the practice.
This course is especially helpful for people who want to strengthen their understanding of āsana and prāṇāyāma in a clear and practical way.

  • Already practicing yoga and want to deepen your understanding in a structured, step-by-step way.
  • Considering Yoga Teacher Training and would like to experience the foundation before committing to a full course.
  • Managing a physical concern and want to explore how yoga may support your wellbeing from a traditional yogic perspective.

  • 10 sessions (once per week)
  • Each session: 2 Hours

Each weekly session includes:
  • 90-minute guided yoga class
  • Guided breathing practices
  • Step-by-step progressive learning

Course Objective
The aim of these courses is to provide a clear understanding of the principles and fundamentals of Haṭha Yoga. You will gain essential knowledge and practical training to confidently follow and apply an integrated Hatha Yoga sequence in your daily life.

Course Structure
This is a skill-based course designed to develop your ability to demonstrate and apply foundational yoga techniques. The course is divided into three modules.

Module 1: Sūkṣma Vyāyāma
This module focuses on the key joints of the body and subtle energy movement. It includes practices that support mobility, coordination, and overall wellbeing.
You will study:
  • Anatomy of key synovial joints.
  • Natural range of movement in the toes, ankles, knees, hips, trunk, fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and neck.
  • A complete yogic sequence for maintaining joint health and mobility.
  • The physiological and energetic effects of each practice.

Module 2: Sūrya Namaskāra
Learn the classical Haṭha Yoga Sun Salutation with awareness, alignment, and breath integration. This module supports rhythm, coordination, and the linking of movement with breath.

Module 3: Yogāsana
This module introduces foundational classical Hatha Yoga postures and integrated sequencing.
You will practice and study:
  • Forward bends: Padānguṣṭhāsana, Padahastāsana, Paścimottānāsana.
  • Standing poses: Tikonāsana, Parivṛtta Trikonāsana, Vīrabhadrāsana I & II, Vṛkṣāsana.
  • Seated and supine variations: Vajrāsana, Ardha Supta Vajrāsana, Ardh Supta Eka Pada Padānguṣṭhāsana.
  • Backbends: Uṣṭrāsana, Bhujaṅgāsana, Śalabhāsana, Dhanurāsana.
  • Twists and restorative poses: Supta Udārakṛṣāsana, Śavāsana.
  • Integral yoga sequences that combine standing, seated, twisting, backbending, and supine postures in a holistic flow.
